World Masters Track Champs

Well there we have it...420+ competitors and it looks like there are enough older women to create a 55+ class for the pursuit and TT. There'll certainly be a 10 year group for the young ones and both of the mass start races look like there'll only be 2..30-44 and 45+.

During the Aus Masters Commission teleconference yesterday, I was assured that the organisers had TRIED to be allowed to offer 5 year age groupings for women but to no avail..the UCI were adamant. One does get the feeling that the UCI just wishes Masters would fade away quietly...they just can't be bothered with us, are not willing to deviate from Elite rules and THAT is THAT (Victorian parent style...we should be seen but not heard and maybe not even seen).

I guess the message for 2008 and 2009 is that there *are* plenty of Aus Masters riders and that, despite what the invitation says, we WILL have sufficient riders to create most of the 5 year categories, except perhaps 30-34yr group, which is a new concept for us. Here are the the women's entry numbers:

SPR T.T I/P SCR PTS
30 to 34 3 3 1 1 1

35 to 39 5 5 5 7 6

40 to 44 7 12 11 10 9

45 to 49 4 6 6 5 6

50 to 54 5 7 6 4 5

55 to 59 3 5 5 2 2

60 to 64 3 4 3 2 1

65 to 69 1 1 1 1

Note: minimum of 6 entries per individual event
and 12 entries for mass start events
