World Road TT champion here!!!

St Johann i Tirol is as beautiful as ever..chocolate /music box pretty and the weather is doing us proud (25 degrees C and rising), although there has been a bit of a hefty breeze along the TT course; every day it comes from different quarter. No point fussing about it though it’s the same for us all.

I heard from Alex who is in Poland at his MTBO World Champs..in the sprint event, he had a head on crash with a Dane and somewhat disorientated didn’t do as well as he’d hoped….the Dane did worse. He made a few errors in the medium and so was outside the top 10.

My big news is that I won the World Road TT Championships. My time was slower than my all time PB, as were a lot of riders’ times..it was windy. If I wanted to I can also blame the fact that this year we had to be present and in the queue for UCI bike inspection 10 mins ahead of our start..dunno why I bothered with a warm up and finally I can blame the fact that I was and am now in the throes of a cold..sore throat/runny nose..but hey! I won so I wont use any of them!!!
The schwag was nice..a coupla bottles from the vineyard of Signor Moser. But I can see excess luggage charges looming.

I’d like to take a moment to thank my coach Auriel Forrester for her help in my preparation and hr bravery in asking me to stay for a week. Also her partner Jim, who responded to my call 90 mins before the race when my SRM wouldn’t come out to play and I’d forgotten which buttons to push and in which order.

On Monday I hopped onto the weighing machine at the pharmacy and am 57kg. 2 years ago when I was here I was 60kg. The weight loss might not have helped in the TT, but surely will in the road race on Friday up the 11% Huberhohe climb, the nasty pinch at Schwendt and the final heave from Kossen..

And finally for your amusement:
Heard from CNN… "And here is the weather for Australia and Tasmania"

Seen on back of UK truck during my taxi journey to Heathrow "300 ton tail lift". Totally unable to help myself I said to the taxi driver "Is that similar to a face lift?"
